I'm working on Pt. 8's north living room a couple of hours a day. I've got plenty of time to get it done, but the spackle is taking forever to dry in a couple of places. It's weird. I guess it's been kind of damp lately, but it hasn't been that damp. And I'm pretty sure using wire mesh as structure isn't causing it to take longer to dry, either, because that just wouldn't make any sense. (And besides, that's standard for plaster-style work. Oh, this is all topcoat here - just mending bits, it isn't really that big a job. It's just taking too long.)

But the new lights are great; they made the room look its proper size. The old centre overhead light always made it look tiny, because of the shadows it cast all over the walls.

I'd like to work on the north kitchen, too, but I don't think I'll be able to get to it in time. I'm also busily going through stuff, doing a purge of old shit. I'm not throwing away things with actual sentimental value, just old or random stuff that I'll never use. Outdated maps, the old bathroom scale that somehow never made it to the charity pile, the old hair dryer - stuff like that. (You don't want to know how much out-of-date makeup and cold medicine and skin care stuff went out to the garbage, either.)

Nothing unusual, just what I'm doing. I'm kind of grateful for the lack of drama. (phew)
