Turned on the printer (an old HP LaserJet IIIp with PostScript cart and RAM expansion - the postscript capability being why I've kept it so long); it made an assortment of strange whining noises, did not make the usual fan noises, and powered itself down. Restarted it, and it seems normal, except a smell disturbingly reminiscent of rotting meat comes out of the vents now.

I'm used to the the smell of escaping magic blue smoke. This is something different. If I open it up, am I going to find a desiccated mouse in there or something?
