Y'know, I have to admit, I'm getting a little judgy about people who aren't leaving Twitter. I'm trying to rein it in but it's not easy.

I mean, I want to be understanding, particularly with people who have large audiences that it would be bad to leave. I can kinda understand that even if I kinda hate it.

But everybody else, I mean... the people just posting about regular shit like the World Cup as twitter is being turned into a hate site targeting me and mine...

I'd've thought the big meme a couple of days ago being "let's throw the fags into woodchippers" might've been enough of a push. But so far, the answer is clearly no, it wasn't.

kiiiinda gettin' corn chip feels here.

again.

not liking it.

Understandable.

Also, I'm still finding people to stand ground with in support of your rights over there. Not going to surrender that place to those murderous fools. And that plan to frame over five thousand account-holders for assorted crimes in order to justify account suspensions? The people running Libs of Tiktok would consider their own account acceptable losses to ensure that frame-up succeeded.

HELL NO to that.

Also, glad my one attempt to find work with Shopify years ago failed. Especially now.

I've seen trans and queer sex workers shouting loudly for Twitter *not* to be deplatformed/abandoned because that's their livelihood down the drain. Similarly, Black Twitter seems reluctant to let their community be torn up by the roots - especially given the racism issues on Mastodon.

If it helps any, I think a lot of people are hoping Elon will lose control of Twitter and it will go back to how it was. As in, maybe the GDPR violations will cause such a crackdown that he'll lose the company or be forced to run it how it used to be.

And a lot are trying to hold space to NOT let it be completely claimed by the evildoers, like trying to hold onto Norse heritage as more than just an excuse for racism. And some are in other countries and not seeing US issues as their problem.

I take it their jury is still deliberating re: Hive and Post?

And we're still waiting for Christopher (Bot-Sentinel) Bouzy's idea to become physical facilities, right?

I think the GDPR issues have been answered with the shutdown of the Brussels offices of Twitter. Musk thinks that will solve the EU "problem". I think he's deceiving himself along the same lines as Trump and Putin.

As one of those non-Americans myself, I'm expecting CRTC, RCMP, CSIS, CSE, etc. to have some thoughts of their own about this. There were Child Exploitation Imagery investigations that Twitter was cooperating with before Musk fired the Trust and Safety team.

I am agreed with Solarbird that things will not go back to how they were, even should we manage to pry Twitter loose from Musk's grip. They will be different, if Twitter outlasts Musk's control, because institutions built by humans change due to events and processes like this.

You really did dodge a bullet there.

Shopify...they were a major success story here in Ottawa. I remember when they were operating out of the S. J. Major Building on York Street. Then, the move into that office tower on 150 Elgin. Several of the upper floors of that building were customized for that firm.

And they've been getting creepy for years, even before the Pandemic. Providing web-shop services to Breitbart wasn't enough of a clue for us?

I haven't done anything to my account, but I deleted the app off my phone. And it's been days since I took a look through the desktop app.

I came across some hilarious-from-a-distance accounts of SpaceX, describing it as a matter of carefully managing a child king.

The people I might feel judgemental about I either gave up on some time ago, or they're entirely strangers. One way or another, they're all in the Infinite Dark Mass folder now.

Do I get points for never having joined Twitter in the first place? Or the Book of Faces, for that matter?
