new furnace day

solarbirdtoday was new furnace day and it looks like we got maximum value out of the old one - when they pulled it today we found two cracks in the heat exchanger, and it had finally started to rot out in the way most of this model did within two years, which is why they were recalled.
so well done us, I guess?
also got a merv 15 filter system so take that, fire season!
tomorrow they finish up some details on the furnace install, then they'll start on the top floor semi-ductless AC for further no, fuck you fire season adventures. that'll take the rest of the week.
i feel a lot better having the whole-house air-filter working now though. fire season has been nasty.
