What no one's saying about Florida Man Daniel Maples at Costco and his "I FEEL THREATENED!!!!" video as he encroaches on an elderly woman who chided him about not wearing mask is that this phrase is literally Stand-Your-Ground for "I HAVE THE RIGHT TO KILL YOU, BITCH!"

No lie. Florida lets you kill if you feel at risk. He's threatening this elderly woman and the man who defended her with death.

Also, as per the article, since 2017, "defendants do not have to prove in pretrial hearings that they were defending themselves in order to avoid prosecution."

No proof of actual threat required. Just the statement.

I am grimly considering anew the fact that Florida - despite my having friends past and present there - will be among the first to slowly lose its real estate to climate derangement's quieter creeping effects.

The real question is how much longer the fresh water supply (Everglades, etc) will survive. Because once the ocean gets into that aquifer it's game over -- i.e., even if the land is still there (for now) it won't be habitable,...

... at least not without quadrupling or quintupling their current desalination capacity. Granted, they're within an order of magnitude of what they'll need, so they could possibly manage it if somebody's willing to fund a Desalination Apollo Project and they go all out on building plants.

(... on top of all of the sea-wall building and other shit they'll need to keep the Palm Beach - Miami corridor from going under...)

But if not, that's 7 million people needing to move and it'll be sooner rather than later.
