I haven't been posting lately because I haven't been writing for like a week. This sux. The timing is poor. However, Thanksgiving went pretty well, I think, and the house is cleaner than it's been in a long time, which is good. We had over a dozen people and hit that critical mass where you have multiple active groups being involved with different discussions and activities and stuff. We also invented Variable Skew Distortion Jenga, which those of us playing it enjoyed.

Anyway, I have a new song which currently is an instrumental and untitled but is a little shy of 4m performed as such right now, but rounds up to four. It'll get lyrics sometime but right now doesn't have them. (The lyrics it currently has seem to involve nattering on about how fat George the Cat is. These lyrics will not ship.)

But instrumental or not, lame or not, rounding up or not, it's 4m in Nano terms, so! Currently: 28 minutes. I have now written five minutes more music than my previous nanotewrimo attempt! I am not currently on target; to be on target, I needed by EOD today to have 45 minutes. I will not make 50 minutes on schedule.

Still, I do have like six new songs so far, and hope to have seven or eight, and I can live with that. ^_^

The top of the tower is the usual square; however, the tower suffers(?) from increasing skew all the way to the ground floor. This is very easy to make as you just take the plastic tower-construction box and let the open end expand along the vertical axis so instead of the base angle being 90 degrees, it's more like 135. Gravity does the rest. Then play as per normal rules. The surface area providing support (and friction) is as a result less as you go down the tower, so in theory it'd be less stable - but not dramatically so.

George (at least I think it was George) offered a further refinement to that setup: bump the tower just firmly enough to add a cat-shaped curve to the tower's vertical axis. It's probably not needful to add that he won the game with that move.

It was fun to play Jenga; even more fun to try to bluff Elane (which is a fine refinement in its own right, when you think about it) into losing her temper. Out of such small interventions are great accomplishments wrought. ^_^

Congratulations. I admire anyone who can write music and/or lyrics. I can write news articles, short fiction, non-fiction, fictional books - but music lyrics escape me no matter how hard I try. They just come out terribly.

Which is weird because I have a head full of progressive rock (and popular rock) lyrics in my head.
