Trump's plan, then, seems to be to power through the trial without witnesses, get that clean bill of health from Senate Republicans and then fight both the release of Bolton's book and the aftermath. Bolton will become just another target of Trump's frequent and then occasional fury, another person shunted into the gallery of traitors to the cause.

There were a couple headlines yesterday that sent the "shoot first, ask questions never" segment of social media into non-gendered hysterics. The first was about Dianne Feinstein. According to the LA Times, the California senator had caved on Donald Trump's impeachment like a common Susan Collins. The quid pro quo didn't fit so she must acquit.

OLYMPIA — The Washington House on Monday released hundreds of pages of documents used by outside investigators to write the report concluding state Rep. Matt Shea planned and participated in domestic terrorism against the United States.
Their release came at the request of House Speaker Laurie Jinkins, D-Tacoma, to help lawmakers evaluate the report’s explosive allegations and decide whether to expel Shea, a Republican from Spokane Valley, from the Legislature.
The House-commissioned report released last month concluded Shea planned and participated in domestic terrorism through his involvement in three standoffs against the government. It has been forwarded to the FBI and U.S. Attorney’s Office.

4. Today feels quite different. Mitch McConnell said Tuesday he did not have 51 votes block of effect to call witnesses, but the Senate majority leader was not admitting defeat.
5. He and others were admitting they had more work to do. No one, not even the four holdouts, wanted to hear from witnesses. They just needed reasons to say no.
