1) If you could be instantly fluent in one other language that you currently do not read or speak, which would it be?
Thanks to the "read" part up there, I get to say Japanese, even though I'm already taking classes. ^_^ I'm still almost totally illiterate, so!
If I couldn't do that, then... hm. Chinese. Mostly for the characters, which I could then apply to Japanese. ^_^ (Since both Chinese and Japanese readings can be used ni Japanese.) I'd prefer whichever kind is spoken in Hong Kong movies. ^_^
2) If you could have the starring role in any film already made, what would it be?
Movie, specifically. Hm. {thinks} Oh, starring role. Hrm again! That makes it even harder, because it kind of eliminates animation. ^_^ Unless you include voice acting, I suppose. So. Hm. Mononoke Hime, maybe, just because it's one of my most favourite films (even though it's horribly depressing) and I like the character (Princess Mononoke) a lot. ^_^
3) If you could receive one small package this very moment, who would it be from and what would be in it?
Um. Well. What just popped into my head isn't what I expected. Apparently, "from my real parents, whoever they are," and what's in it is "how to contact them, if I want to." Surprising.
4) If you could own one painting from any collection in the world but were not able to sell it, which work of art would you select?
I like the "not able to sell it" part of this question. Hee. ^_^ Um. It's too bad it has to be a painting, because if it could be sculpture, it'd be Donatello's David. (And then I'd loan it back to the museum it's in it Italy because I don't horde.)
Specifically a painting... there's several pieces I could think of, honestly. Even though I have the worst time coming up with titles right now. *^_^*;
5) If you were instantly able to play one musical instrument perfectly that you never have played before, what would it be?
I already play the instrument I really like to play (flute), so, hm. Oh, I know. I could add transverse flute. So instead of just my bamboo flutes, I could play any kind. ^_^ If that doesn't count... hm. Maybe harp. Just because it'd just be so different.
6) If you could possess one supernatural ability, what would it be?
If you disqualify "no aging," it'd be a tough choice between shapeshifting or flight.
7) If you had to choose the most valuable thing you ever learned what would it be?
Anna loves me.
8) If you could have only one piece of furniture in your house, what would it be?
A futon. (The type with a frame.) Bed _and_ couch in one. ^_^ Tho' when I was living in one particular dorm room, the only piece of furniture I ever actually used was the desk and chair; it was one of those top-storey rooms and the ceiling slanted with the roof, so I only had about a foot and a half wide that was full height before it started sloping down at 45 degrees. So! I took the bed apart and hid it in a part of the room that I walled off with a tapestry, and stuck the mattress down at the lowest-height part of the room (about a foot and a half tall) and slept there. I put another tapestry on that part of the floor (padded underneath with 30-odd towels from the school laundry) and had everything else on the floor except for my desk jammed into the dormer, and a padded chair that I had for guests. (All the dorm rooms came with one padded chair, one desk chair, one desk, one bed, one dresser, usually built in. Which I guess I'm not counting as furniture. This one wasn't actually built in, but there was really only one or maybe two places you could put it.)
Hm. If a "giant storage unit" has to count as your only furniture, I might have to consider that instead. I have too much nice clothing to let sit on the floor gathering dust! ^_^ Particularly if I could also have a futon mattress not count.
9) If you could read the private diary of someone you know personally, whose diary would it be?
I wouldn't. Private is private.
11) If you could choose the way you will die, how would you want it to happen?
Giagantic explosion. But away from anybody else. Maybe in space. Make it quick, whatever it is. ^_^
12) If you could wake up tomorrow to learn that the major newspaper headlines were about you, what would you want them to say?
About me in particular. Hm. In general, I'd rather not! But, well, maybe ELVES WIN INDEPENDANCE or something. ^_^
13) If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
See whether you have to go public. If I could avoid it and still get the money, I would. Or, in terms of "with the money," set up a front corporation to start buying properties away from asshole "investors" in my neighbourhood and solve some problems via the mass application of cash. Sometimes, that works!
(I actually buy a lotto ticket about once a year. Because I figure, if the gods ever feel like giving me a lot of money - without killing some long-lost relative - then I may as well give them a reasonable method. To steal from someone else who has the same basic thought, it's not like Phil and Trixie are going to parachute naked into the side yard carrying sacks of hundreds. ^_^ )
14) If you could choose the music at your funeral, what would it be, and who would play it?
I've never thought about it. I dunno! I want cremation, not a burial, but if somebody wants to put a stone up somewhere that's fine with me.
15) If you could take away the vocal cords of any person, who would it be?
{shudder} I don't think I'd do that to someone. No matter how much I think they might deserve it.
16) If you had to describe your idea of the perfect mate, how would you do it?
Hee. Got one! We'd like a second, too. Two elfgirls need a third, preferably a boy! ^_^
17) If you had to have a personal friend redecorate your house, who would you pick to do it?
The person who I suspect would be best at it - Kelli - isn't actually the person I'd want to do it, just because her tastes - while great - are so different from mine. At least, in terms of what I'd want to live in. But then, I bet she could adjust for that. And she really does have the best interiour design sense of anybody I know personally. So I'd say Kelli anyway, and hope she could tone down the FAAAAAAABulousness of it all. ^_^
I have some instinct that I might like things Vicka does too, but I haven't seen enough of what she's been doing to her house over the last few years to know for sure. The last time I was out there, it was mostly still being disassembled. ^_^ (HI VICKA ^_^)

Heh. The ones I don't remember. The one with a colonial-revival front door and a second storey with a hallway railing along the top of the stairwell looking down and a dog with fur the colour of pampas grass.
19) If you could have prevented one thing from happening between you and a friend, what would it have been?
Vicka and I had a hellish ... misunderstanding ... that was awful for about a year. We got over it, but I'd like it not to have happened. There are probably some other things like that, too.
20) If you could learn the total number of hours you have spent in your life doing one thing, what would it be?
I... don't know why I'd care.
21) If you had to describe yourself as a child in one word, what would it be?
Enigmatic, since I don't remember. ^_^

The prop? Or a functioning version thereof? ^_^ I'll assume just the prop. Hm. Tardis control column, maybe. The version the used in the FOX movie. I'd have to wrestle it away from Paul's cold, dead hands, though. ^_^
If that's too big (and is therefore a set piece, not a prop) then... hm! I don't really collect these sorts of things. Maybe... hm... the oscillation overthruster from Buckaroo Banzai. Hee. That'd be keen. ^_^
