Date: 2018-12-31 09:40 pm (UTC)I think if I'd had anything extra to shock/depress me, it's how many people are willing just to end the world for another 10-15 years of the oil industry. I mean, literally willing to fuck over not just "the poors," which has always been kind of the point, but their own kids and grandkids, thinking that the bunker of money - which would be meaningless - would shield them.
They can't burn fast enough.
And if there's anything I'd like to see this year in particular it's broad realisation that the neofascists and protofascists of the right enjoy this. Causing pain is the point, not a side effect, and really, nothing else matters. That really, really has to sink in, and I don't think it entirely has.
