#30. My grandmother had forgotten her birth year. She fell and broke her pelvis, and after getting most of her mobility back, Mom and Grandma went down to the bank to check the safe deposit box, contents, and to make sure Mom was acceptable access in an emergency or death. Her birth certificate said a year older than she had been telling everyone, for decades.

Grandmother never quite got over those two shocks, physical and then mental. She lived seven more years, but that's when we date the start of her senile psychosis. :-(
