I wish livejournal understood hiragana.
Apr. 20th, 2002 02:07 pmCatching up!
I went down to Kinokunya and picked up the hiragana flashcards I'd ordered. They're not as good a set as the previous, just because there are a lot fewer of them - they're huge, where the other ones were small, so the package is the same size and it's the same amount of paper, but there are fewer cards. These are probably intended for a younger audience or something. The package has a picture of an unhappy dog in a chef's hat, holding a saucepan in one hand and a purple eggplant in the other. What this is supposed to mean culturally, I don't know. But I suspect it's a pun.
Lots of yard work. Lots and lots of yard work. The worst part is the grass, because I'm allergic to grass pollen and am not, not, not supposed to mow. But I couldn't get ahold of the person who mows for me, so I had to do it myself. (It was really out of hand. Like maybe eight inches out of hand.) Worse, that was at the other house - this house is just as bad and has a bigger yard. I sure hope Marie calls me back - I finally got ahold of her a couple of hours ago, and she's supposed to call and let me know she can mow this afternoon. Or not. Agh!
At least I've gotten some weeding done. I have a lot more of that to do. The spring has been so strange this year, that I've managed to fall behind at the same time as other planty stuff is late. But I'm catching up. Slowly.
(phone call) Ah! Marie can come over and mow. Phew.
I owe two people letters in Japanese, and several other people letters in English. Maybe I'll catch up on that later this afternoon. I also need to figure out why I'm feeling so blocked in the sculpture studio. I don't know what's up with that. I'm not completely flailing, but the situation isn't a whole lot better than that.
Joby got the fill-dirt in his back yard leveled out, too. So now it looks kind of like a yard, and better yet, you can go up the back stairwell and not have the top step drop you into a three-foot-deep ditch. Yay!
