THREE THINGS YOU DID LAST NIGHT

Cow got the pomegranate stuff from the US, I think it's three olives brand. Should be easy to find in Seattle!

I blame the norse/scots confusion on the fantasy genre in general, dwarves in particular. Somewhere in there the classic dwarves of norse myth where blessed/cursed with thick scottish accents, and now the two cultures are inexplicably linked. Through non-existant, dragon-fighting dwarves.

Almost but not quite relevent: I am currently RPing a dwarven cleric, but rather than a norse name and scots accent, she has a gaelic name and slightly down-home, occasionaly southern accent. Take that, fantasy stereotype!

I saw "How to Train Your Dragon" dubbed in Norwegian, which was also puzzling -- this single little village apparently in the middle of nowhere with nto much else to influence their speech -- and half of them spoke western norwegian and the other half eastern, except for one or two minor parts in northern. You'd think after a generation or two they'd have settled somewhere in the middle, linguistically! (At least they didn't have the mandatory south-western sexy lady voice. I have no idea who decided southwestern was sexy, but as of a few years ago all the movies are doing that stereotype even if it means a family where only the daughter speaks a totally different dialect from everybody else o.O)
