Funny you mentioned sherbet. When I looked at that, my first thought was "wow. That looks almost like fruit, and oh, so juicy..."

I wasn't having a particularly good day until I got to see this...thank you, Solarbird. That is _gorgeous_...it kinda/sorta reminds me of blooming rhododendron back home, but the leaves are wrong and so is the time of year. Do you know what that is?

It's a peony. They're very pretty. Opened, they look like this and this. kathrynt tells me they're incredibly hardy once established in the right conditions, but are difficult to get to take.
