no time for funny!

Doing lots of algebra. I need more practice. I am unhappy with and embarrassed about my math score on the sample test. Perfect on the verbal, but, well, I kind of need both. :( So instead of anything constructive, have a meme.

If you can read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, please post a comment with a memory of us - even if we don't speak very often. It can be anything you want, good or bad.

When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

And a flower picture, taken on the goat trail road near the house, I think. Either that or between here and the bus stop. But I think it was on the goat trail.

And just for [livejournal.com profile] lyonesse, a mushroom. ^_^

I remember, as Trollkiller, you were silent and mysterious and ... silent. At least to me, as Anna's dorky friend from Galaxy.

Solarbird? Not so much. At least, I should say, I get it now.

Back when we were still in school, I was insanely jealous of your hair. I wanted my hair to look all full and soft and shiny like yours, and all I got was a tangled pain in the butt mess. It always looked better on you than on me though, and I'm glad I finally gave up and hacked mine off short.

I have never met you, but my favorite example of Solardbird English1 is 'ZOMG National Coming Out Day! HI I'M QUEER.'

Ah, yes--the hair! But everyone's going to say that....

I remember very awkwardly asking about your name--um, will the post office deliver if it's addressed that way?--when I took over the LexFA newsletter, since I was sure it was a fannish name and not your real one. How many decades ago was that???

Oh, and being intimidated by how smart you are. And I don't tell a lot of people *that*!

See, this is why I fight for appropriate programs for gifted kids. You have to be able to spend some time with people you can just talk to and they will understand you! What's amazing to me is that I am in a pretty rarefied group--University academics with PhDs--and everyone still isn't bright and intellectual. The ones who are gravitate to each other and have lunch, though. You do need to be in grad school!

I heard about you for years before I ever met you, and it was great to finally to do so at Worldcon 2001.
