Piezo crystals can also be used as very narrow filters. By attaching one end as "make it vibrate" and the other as "give electric output", you get rather good dampening at anything but the crystal's resonant frequency (which, pretty much, as I understand it, depends on its shape and size), so you can make extremely tight band-pass filters. Or "crystal oscillators" or "crystal clocks" as they're sometimes called.
