Reminds me of a caller to a radio talk show I heard. He opposed marriage equality and started his blather with, "I happen to be a Christian."

These people pull all sorts of rhetorical tricks, so it shows that their concern is not for real human beings in the real world and that they know they have good good and rational arguments for treating us as second class citizens.
