Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I moved to the US when I was 3 and moved back back when I was 9, so my English is good. I'm a computer engineering graduate working in software programming. I've been an avid fan of Winx Club since 2005. I'm also great at geography and editing videos :-)

Top 5 fandoms:
The only fandom I've remained active for all these years is Winx Club (it's a major part of why I got an LJ to begin with), though I've also been a fan of The Amazing Race since the beginning. Currently I'm also into post-2010 animated Disney features (plus Inside Out), Equestria Girls, and whatever my eclectic tastes happen to fancy :-)

I mostly post about: Reactions to The Amazing Race (both US and Asia editions) dominated my LJ for the past couple of years, but 1) once upon a time, I made plenty of posts about Winx and the very occasional post on my life, and 2) I used to post plenty of icons at a now-defunct LJ community (had a good knack for it too :-)) I do hope to diversify, though...

I rarely post about: Personal life, except for really big events

My last three posts were about: Reactions to TAR... You'd have to go back to early 2016 to find my last non-TAR post :-\

How often do you post?: About once a month during TAR seasons (I try to gather several eps' worth of thoughts at a time) plus occasions I'm inspired to write about other things

How about commenting?: I've never been big on commenting for commenting's sake, usually only if I have something substantial to say. I prefer my comments to be more than simply "I like it! It's pretty!"

Subscription/Access Policy: Open with no restrictions provided you're not a Trump supporter or someone who thinks feminism is "cancer". I add back everyone after a quick look, no need to ask ;D

Main Fandoms: Star Wars, Marvel 616/MCU, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Mass Effect Original Trilogy
Other Fandoms: The great love story between Justin Trudeau and Emmanuel Macron is making me reconsider my stance on RPF. I like a lot of smallish movie fandoms that I can participate in during Yuletide and other exchanges, like Attack the Block and Pacific Rim. I wish more people geeked out over Pathologic.
Fannish Interests: Fanfic, fan art, meta.
OTPs and Ships: SW: Kylux, Poe/Leia, Han/Leia; Marvel: Steve/Tony, Clint/Bucky, open to most other ships in this fandom tbh; Kingsman: Harry/Eggsy; Mass Effect: Garrus/Shepard, Kaiden/Shepard.

Favourite Movies: I used to watch a lot of movies. I don't really anymore because I'd much rather be reading or playing a game rather than sitting still, but so long as it is out of cinemas I've probably at least heard about it.
Books: China Mieville's ouvre, the Discworld series, Good Omens, Cormac McCarthy's stuff.
Music: I listen to everything provided the vox isn't whining and no one is advocating violence against women. Been on a Scissor Sisters kick for the last two days.
Games: Playing Dishonored and Bioshock as schedule permits. I'm on steam as cunthulhu if anyone wants a new friend.
Comics/Anime/Misc: I will forever and always be a fan of Hellboy, Batman, and Deadpool. I drift in and out of series on the regular, but I try to keep up with the Poe Dameron comics, the Mignola Verse, and Saga right now. I think Chew has already ended though I haven't gotten the last issues, sigh.

Other Info: I'm on twitter regularly, and once in a blue moon I use tumblr. I swear a lot, attempt to offset my numerous failings by using self-deprecation daily, and sometimes get stuck in migraine hell for weeks at a time. But I don't have an excess of people on my list who share my fandoms, so I'm giving this community a whirl to find some other Steve/Tony or Kylux people, at the very least xD

If you think we'd get along, I'd love to add you!

Describe yourself in five sentences or less: I'm Finnish Literature Major from Uni of Helsinki and I just graduated, so we're living interesting times since I don't know what to do with myself and my life after 6 years of more or less intense studying. I'm passionate reader and a book-lover. I do cosplay with my partner in crime and I've been doing that for 7 years now, so it's probably not going to change anytime soon. I'm terrible easily addicted to new things and I'm a sucker for all kinds of geeky things. LGBT rights, feminism and all that jazz. I'm pretty liberal in my views; if you're happy and not hurting anyone then I don't care what you are/what you like, it's probably cool by me.

Top 5 Fandoms
: Star Wars, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Harry Potter, Kingdom Hearts. These are probably my main ones I keep coming back to over and over again.

I mostly post about: Daily life, what I'm currently stressing/reading/eating/planning/doing/etc. I've never written a journal in English before, so I'm not sure what kind of topics I'll tend to go with this language. But since it's pretty hecking quiet in Finnish side of this site, I'm trying my wings out here as well. I'll probably worry a lot about cosplaying and how I hate my life choices, but hey, it's all in good humor.

I rarely post about: My relationship in terms of sex life or emotional struggles. Politics. I have strong political views, but current state of many things gets me so worked up and mad I feel it's just better not to write about those things after raging about them to all your friends and family.

My last three posts were about: Graduating, what I'm currently reading, money and how I really want to get our balcony to look nice, but how it's difficult when all out windows are facing South and it's like sauna out there and everything died last year, but now we're going to prepare ourselves to this battle with some tough-ass-plants that can survive in the sunlight.

How often do I post?
: I aim for once a week but some times I write more, some times less, I don't know what happens now when I try tackling two languages at once. I'm not stressing myself about this matter, I'll write when I feel like I have something to write about.

How about commenting

Here's a thought:

If you disapprove of politicians beating up journalists (or winking at other politicians' beating up journalists) and have some spare cash, one possible action would be to contribute to the Guardian -- whose journalist, Ben Jacobs, got beaten up.

There are various options for becoming a member and paying a regular subscription, but you can also make a one-off contribution.

Although they're a British newspaper, their coverage of US issues is very very strong.

They would like to note (in an e-mail sent out to members) that they recently ran pieces including GOP candidate Greg Gianforte has financial ties to US-sanctioned Russian companies and Trump diehards stay loyal in Montana's 'white man's country' – video:

In that interview, the Guardian's west coast bureau chief, Paul Lewis, challenged Gianforte over his support of Trump's executive order that threatens more than two dozen national monuments in America, including the Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument in Montana.

This community has for purpose to archive all the Arashi's TV shows transcripts in Japanese posted on Mediacrit, as they don't archive what they post.
So this community will be useful mostly for translators, subbers, and people wanting to work on their Japanese.

I hope some of you will find it useful :)

From [personal profile] watersword in a comment in our suggestions post:
Rep. Ted Lieu (D - CA) has introduced a bill to ban conversion therapy (aka abusing queer people to make them not-queer) nationwide: HR.2119 - Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act of 2017. There's a companion bill in the Senate, S.928 - Therapeutic Fraud Prevention Act of 2017. People can contact their reps or senators to thank them for co-sponsoring (the list of cosponsors is available at those links), or urge them to vote for the bills if and when they get out of committee.

Holy shit:

The Guardian: Republican candidate charged with assault after 'body-slamming' Guardian reporter

"Allegedly", while a legal requirement at this point, means that, among other things, the Fox News team also present wrote this about Gianforte's alleged attack on Ben Jacobs:

Jacobs persisted with his question. Gianforte told him to talk to his press guy, Shane Scanlon.

At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, "I'm sick and tired of this!"

Jacobs scrambled to his knees and said something about his glasses being broken. He asked Faith, Keith and myself for our names. In shock, we did not answer. Jacobs then said he wanted the police called and went to leave. Gianforte looked at the three of us and repeatedly apologized. At that point, I told him and Scanlon, who was now present, that we needed a moment. The men then left.

To be clear, at no point did any of us who witnessed this assault see Jacobs show any form of physical aggression toward Gianforte, who left the area after giving statements to local sheriff's deputies.

Oh, and it was all caught on audio tape.

Fox News: Key Montana newspapers pull Gianforte endorsement after incident

Here's [personal profile] colorblue's post on the Montana election -- the polls close today so I'm guessing it's too late to donate to Gianforte's opponent (ETA: see comment, no it's not too late, you can donate now and apparently he currently has 5X matching), but you never know:

Action: Montana Special Election

Note: Given the extreme bizarreness and how incredibly close to the special election it was, I'm sure there will be alt-right conspiracy theories about how Gianforte was deliberately provoked by a sinister foreign journalist from some sort of commie foreign paper.

For context: the Guardian is an extremely reputable, deeply earnest, moderately left-of-centre (by UK standards) newspaper. Think New York Times crossed with Slate and far, far less money, perhaps? Its capacity for sinister scheming is minimal.
